New Store Project: Quince & Co Hamlin’s Peak

Hamlin Peak

I finally finished my Hamlin Peak cardigan, and I LOVE it! It’s my new summer “around the store” sweater (that is the equivalent of a cozy  “around the house” sweater). I used Quince & Co. Kestrel and I’ve got to say, I love linen. I added some mods: decreased slower in the front, added extra length so it’s a 3/4 length (see my Ravelry Notes).

The construction is simple, a very easy top-down raglan. The pattern was great, very well written and easy to follow – perfect for a simple summer project that you can actually wear THIS summer!

The linen has a lot of stretch & drape and the sweater came out a smidge too big, if I make it again I’ll made a size smaller (it should use one less skein, even less if I make it shorter), but it is still very comfortable. The blocking was the best part – I put it in a sweater bag (it’s a big lingerie bag), washed normally on cold and dried on low. It came out great, much softer than when I knitted it and very flowy. One of my favourite things about linen is that the seams don’t curl, they lie flat all on their own: you don’t need to make cuff, or ribbing, or any kind of fancy edging. The raw edge looks great!
