New Store Project: Kid’s Fruit Caps

Berroco Maya Berry Hats 1

Berroco Maya Berry Hats 2

Berry Hat

We finished these hats a few weeks ago with the intention of modelling them on my niece & nephew. Unfortunately, they are extremely busy little people. I keep bringing the bats along when I’m with them and they keep me so busy I forget to get the pics. I think I will need another adult around to wrangle a brother-sister ‘photo shoot’.

We used Berroco Maya, a soft, comfortable, easy to knit/crochet blend of cotton & baby alpaca. One skein of the main colour makes 2 hats (one baby sized, one kid sized). We used 4.5mm/US7 needles, but they yarn is pretty flexible and you could go down to a 4mm/US6.

The pattern we used is the Kid’s Fruit Cap, a ‘tried & true’ hard-copy loose-leaf pattern from Ann Norling.
