FINISHED 1 Skein Cable Cowl

Urth Uneek Chunky 1 skein cable cowl

1 Skein Cable Cowl

I was just playing around with this new yarn, Urth Uneek Chunky, so I whipped up a little neckwarmer. A cowl is a great one skein project, and a great way to see how a yarn feels and far it will knit. I love the renaissance quality of the colours in the yarn, the slight sheen of the fibre (which is very unusual in a bulky weight yarn). I was delighted to find that the yardage was good and one skein is definitely enough for a good sized cowl or a hat. I think the cable detail of the pattern was lost in the gorgeous colouration of the yarn, but I was happy with it otherwise. Urth Uneek Chunky is definitely a great yarn for simple knits that don’t require a  lot of detail. It’s is incredibly soft, and feels very airy and kind of cloudlike. It’s newbie friendly and makes VERY giftable knits.

Pattern Modifications

  • I used 10mm/US15 needles
  • I worked 10 rounds after casting on, then did the cable rounds, then did another 10 rounds before casting off.
  • If making a hat I would cast on 40(44) sts for a size s/m(m/l)
