REOPENING IN-STORE SHOPPING
Starting Friday June 11th, we will be open for in-store shopping!
Store Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 6pm
We’ve been getting everything ready for you, preparing to shift out of ‘warehouse mode’ and back into people flow. You’ll be able to come in, touch, look, browse, cavort – it’s all good, as long as you wear a mask and stay 2m away from each other. There will be a maximum of 3 clients allowed inside, but it being summer I don’t think it’ll be a huge disruption.
While things open up, please keep in mind that mother nature may still have some tricks up her sleeve. The Delta Variant has started popping up around the world. The brits are concerned they may have to curtail their reopening because of the Delta variant, and right here at home it may be responsible for pushing Manitoba into a fourth wave. The Delta variant (B1.617.1, the variant from India) is 50% more contagious than the UK variant (the strain that fuelled our third wave), and is more resistant to our vaccines (two shots of the Pfizer vaccine is only about 81% effective against the Delta Variant). Once you have been fully vaccinated you can still catch COVID, and you can still pass it on (although it is less likely). Only 60% of Ontarians have received ONE vaccine dose, so there are still lots of vulnerable people out there.
Also keep in mind, according to Ontario law, if you are exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID, you have to quarantine in your home for 14 days, even if your tests come back negative. My sister-in-law, niece and nephew found this out the hard way (side-note: next time your kid says “Mom, are we allowed to do this?” or “Dad, is this a good idea?” you should listen to them). As much as I’d like to sell you more knitting materials, I’d rather you not be stuck inside in gorgeous weather, shuttered up like Rapunzel.

Beach Wrap (picture above)
This wrap was created with accessibility in mind – I wanted it to be simple to knit, and incredibly wearable. It’s made with Quince & Co. Kestrel, a 100% organic linen that’s easy to knit with, comfortable to wear, and super easy to wash (throw it in the machine in a delicate bag). The linen is heavy enough to keep you warm on spring and summer nights, but will never leave you sweating.
The simple welted texture is random, completely reversible, and creates a classic, timeless look. The pattern is knitted on the bias, increasing in width as you go, so you can make it any size you like and you never have to worry about running out of yarn. We’ve written the pattern with a line-by-line chart, to help you keep track of your rows (a beneficial thing for everyone, but especially helpful for people with learning disabilities). And the final bonus – it’s a FAST knit on 6mm/US10 to 7mm/US10.75 needles (think quick mother’s day gift)!
