Yarn Swap
Sunday, October 22, 1 to 3 pm

Sunday, October 22, 1 to 3 pm

Along with yarns for donation, people drop off knitting & crochet magazines and pattern booklets, which are often left behind after our Yarn Swap. Since they tend to pile up and they get a bit heavy and unwieldy to store, we are going to start offering them in store for FREE. We will not be offering these freebies in our online store, but when you come and visit us in person please feel free to browse them and take what you like – GRATIS.

Sunday, April 23rd from 1 to 3 pm
Speaking of Yarn Swaps, I’m just getting ready for our next swap, this weekend! Just a gentle reminder, when you drop off yarn for donation *please* make sure it is in a SEALED plastic bag (either Ziplock or garbage bag) – this protocol is to help protect us against infestation, and it also helps to re-home your yarns by keeping them clean and tidy. (Please note, donors who are disabled or infirm do not need to go to all this trouble to hermetically seal their yarns – don’t do yourself in running around trying to get your yarn ready to be to repatriated, we’re happy to handle it.)

Our yarn swap is a big eco-friendly redistribution of yarn, needles and other craft supplies. Bring in the crafty stuff you never want to see again and deposit it in one of our baskets. Poke around at all the other donations and take home whatever you from the donations. Don’t be embarrassed by the quality of yarn you bring, whatever is left over is donated to charities like Street Knit, Sistering, Silver Circle Seniors Services, and Gilda’s Club, most of whom prefer acrylic!

Many thanks to everyone who came and/or donated to our yarn swap in October! It was literally an embarrassment of riches – we collected about eleven bags of yarn and hand knits for StreetKnit, three bags for West Toronto Support Services, and another bag for “A Good Yarn” of Sir John A MacDonald CI (they especially appreciated the needles). When the ladies from StreetKnit (above) left their car was FULL.
If you want to make a donation of yarn, needles or hand knits but can’t make it to one of our swaps please feel free to bring it to the store in a sealed plastic bag any time we are open.
Our next swap is Sunday January 22, 2017, 1-3pm.
Just a reminder, Yarn Swap is TODAY!
When: Sunday May 8th, 1 to 3pm
Where: Knit-O-Matic, 1382 Bathurst St, Toronto ON Canada

P.S.
I spent a little time tonight bagging (zilpoc bags from the dollar store are my best friends), labelling, and ruthlessly weeding my stash. The first bucket is already full – treasures abound!
yarn swaps
Thanks to everyoone who came out to our Yarn Swap last Sunday! In addition to having a great time, we collected a couple of garbage bags of yarn to donate to both
Streetknit, Silver Circle West Toronto Services for Seniors. They sincerely appreciate your patronage, and so do we.
Bring the stuff you don’t need, want, or are never going to use, including but not exclusive to yarn, needles, hooks, patterns, books & magazines. Take anything you like from the stuff donated by other people. ALL of the leftovers go to charity (Streetknit, Silver Circle West Toronto Services for Seniors, etc.) and all kinds of donations are welcome (especially the squeakiest of synthetic yarns).
Attendance at Yarn Swap is FREE, just drop by! And bring your knitting and stay with us for a Stitch ‘n Bitch!
If you can’t attend, but you still want to donate your old knit & crochet materials, you can drop it off at the store (in a sealed plastic bag please) any time we are open:
Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat: 11am to 6pm
Wed: 11am to 8pm
Sun: 12 to 5pm
