Interweave Knits Summer 2017

Find poetry in stitches with Interweave Knits Summer 2017. We chose two of William Shakespeare’s most famous comedies—A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night—to inspire our readers and contributors. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an ethereal, feminine collection of lace shawls and tops for the high days of summer. Twelfth Night, much like the play, turns reality on its head; this all-season collection includes women’s wear inspired by menswear, and menswear for good measure.

Knit.Wear Spring/Summer 2017

“Comfort meets fashion in the Spring/Summer 2017 issue of knit.wear. We are inviting you all into our knit.wear living room in “Athleisure;” featuring sporty, chic garments and accessories that are perfect for after work and casual weekends. Our “Leather & Lace” story keeps comfort in mind, but elevates it for the professional, modern woman; these garments and accessories can be worn from day to night with simple restyling. Our feature article, written by Sarah Solomon, takes an in-depth look at MYak, founded by Paola Vanzo and Andrea Dominici. MYak company specializes in bringing the finest Yak fiber to the hand knitting and textile market, in partnership with the indigenous farmers of Nepal. And Larissa Gibson gives us all a lesson in the chain selvedge.”

Knitscene Summer 2017

“Explore lively knits for warm months in the Summer 2017 issue of knitscene. In the Dream Team story, you’ll find happy knit tank tops that feature stripes, yarns for warm weather, and flexibility for active summer sports and pastimes. There’s even a super-cute pair of shorts! The Greenery story ventures into projects inspired by the Pantone Color of 2017 (of the same name), whether that means by the *LITERAL* Greenery color, or by the verdant flora of summer. Shawls, tops, and a farmer’s market bag keep things crisp as a cool summer morning. The Let’s Go to Brunch! story includes projects designed by Interweave staffers—a handful of folks designed their ideal summer projects that are simple, stylish, and perfect for daily excursions.

A new column from knitwear designer Melissa Leapman delves into basic colorwork with stripes, mirroring those in the Dream Team story. The Great Graftsby (Joni Coniglio) thoroughly explains exactly how to graft two edges of lace knitting together—seamlessly, invisibly, and in-pattern. Her clear and concise explanation is easily understandable by both advanced knitters and those grafting for the first time. A book excerpt pattern from Garter Stitch Revival (Interweave, 2017) yields a dynamic summer shawl, and finally we get to peer into the world of the young blog and movement that is Our Maker Life.”
