Garter Squish Blanket
Need something super straightforward for the trip to the cottage? The Garter Squish Blanket couldn’t be simpler – knit. It’s worked with two strands of yarn held together; a base colour is used throughout, and a new contrast colour is introduced for each stripe. It knits up fast on 10mm/US15 needles. I think Cascade 220 Solids and Cascade 220 Heathers are a perfect choice for this project – it’s affordable, comes in a broad spectrum of colours, and feels nice (it’s a peruvian wool, so it isn’t as soft as a merino, but it’s the next best thing. The project benefits from a yarn that is not machine washable because the yarns need to ‘stick’ together and blend).
