Ley Lines

I’m so happy I stumbled across Ley Lines! I saw this wrap being knitted by a client a while ago, and even in progress, I LOVED the modernity and simplicity of the look. There’s just something about ribbing going in different directions that makes me thankful that I’m a knitter (cables do this to me occasionally too).  To make the most of the ribbing, use a semi-solid or solid coloured yarn, like Madeline Tosh Tosh Merino Light (a single ply merino),  Manos del Uruguay Alegria (a hand-dyed semi-solid), or if you prefer the crisp look of a mechanically dyed yarn, try Cascade Heritage (also easier on the budget).

Size

One size. Finished measurements: 90” (225 cm) from side to side and 34” (85 cm) from top to bottom at deepest point.

FREEBIE Lightweight Pullover

Lightweight Raglan Pullover

If you troll Ravelry regularly you might have seen this one, but I think it is a great project. It’s made with fingering weight yarn on 3.5mm/US4 needles, making it a light, easy knit to wear. The basic construction keeps things elegant but simple for summer knitting. The subtle curve at the bottom is created with short rows – a mini-skill challenge for beginners. A great garment for cool summer nights, all spring and fall. And of course there are always lots of yarn options when it comes to fingering weight yarn …..

Unicorn Dreams & Colour Palettes

I don’t know about you, but I love looking at rainbowy, colour combined projects. They’re rainbow eye-candy. People keep asking me what Madeline Tosh Unicorn Tails are used for, and the best, most all encompassing answer is eye-candy. That said, I don’t often wear all the colours of the rainbow at the same time. Most people don’t, so I’ve assembled some colour combinations that work together. They’re still colourful, but a slightly restricted palette.

Madeline Tosh shades are kind of tricky, they don’t all compliment each other. The colour combinations I’ve assembled are based on skeins I ogled and considered for long stretches and that actually compliment each other in real life. If you feel like I neglected some colours palettes it’s because I didn’t feel the actual skeins worked well together.  This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use those colours, they’re just outliers to my eye. Please note: based on the actual dye lots we received, the colours Onyx and Dirty Panther are very close and are almost indistinguishable.

A regular scarf would normally require about 200g/400m of fingering weight yarn.

Mo’ Madeline Tosh!

More stock of Madeline Tosh Merino Light has landed! The colours above are just a sampling, to see everything go HERE

Unfortunately, Tosh raised their prices in May, and the exchange rate and the cost of shipping have also been rising. We’ve tried to keep things equitable and have not raised prices on the older inventory, and we’re pricing according to what we paid.

New Store Sample: Pebbles Baby Vest

Last week Liane whipped up this adorable little baby vest, Pebbles, with less than 1 skein of Madeline Tosh Tosh Merino DK.

The Yarn
OMG, Madeline Tosh Tosh Merino DK  is a yummy, yummy yarn! It’s a 100% merino superwash, squishy single ply, with a little bit of sheen, and the beautiful subtle colouring Tosh is know for. It’s called a DK but it blooms, so we used a 4mm needle.

The Pattern
1. It’s free.  2. It’s been pretty popular on Ravelry and has over 3400 projects, so there are lots of notes from other people.  3. It’s only one size, but if you want to make it larger consider browsing through some of the aforementioned notes.  4. It comes from the mind of professional designer Nikol Lohr, but it’s a “this is how I did it” freebie.
