I’ve been offering you lots of super simple looks lately (I know you’ve been into the Sabai Top & Sweater), but I know some of you prefer to dig into something a little more involved. Sauvie is a new pattern and I thought it’s a super pretty little top, or you could wear it as a vest over a shirt, so versatile too. The tension of 20sts over 4″ is perfect to use Sandnes Garn Line.
Construction
Sauvie is worked from the top down. Back is worked first to base of armhole, then front shoulders are picked up and worked down. Fronts and back are joined and worked to hem. Neck and arm trims are picked up and worked in 1×1 rib. Front bands are picked up and worked in double-knit. Choose the size with 1-4” / 2.5-10 cm of positive ease.
Last week I shared the Sabai Top wiht you, and you guys were totally into it, so when I came across the Sabai Sweater I figured you may want to see that too.
The pattern details suggest 4mm/US6 needles and fingering weight yarn, but the pattern tension is 21 stitches which is not very fingering weight, and I think this would be a perfect spring/summer top to make with Sandnes Garn Line, whose tension is 20 to 21 stitches on 4mm/US6 needles.
The style is a bit oversized (see the measurements below), so if you are petite and need a sweater that’s a little smaller I’d consider going to a thinner yarn like Berroco Remix Light or Berroco Modern Cotton DK – both are great summer yarns that knit at a smaller gauge.
Details
The Sabai Sweater is a simple pullover with a boat neck. It has a loose fit and relatively narrow sleeves for contrast—oversized yet elegant. The sweater is very easy to knit, requiring only a few techniques, making it ideal for beginners. It can be worked from either cotton or a lightweight virgin wool-cashmere blend and is a perfect companion for spring and summer in both versions.
Construction
The Sabai Sweater is worked seamlessly top down. First, the neckline is worked and increases are made for the shoulder slope. The neckline can be worked with (right picture) or without (left picture) short rows, depending on the desired level of difficulty. For beginners, I recommend the version without short rows. For the armholes, front and back are each worked separately back and forth. Then the stitches of front and back are joined together and the body is worked in the round until the sweater has reached the desired length. For the sleeves, stitches are picked up from the side edges of front and back and sleeves are worked in the round in stockinette stitch.
Total length:51 (53) 55 (57) 60 (64) cm / 20.1 (20.9) 21.7 (22.4) 23.6 (25.2)”
The sweater should have a positive ease of approx. 20 cm / 7.9”. For larger sizes (XL and XXL), slightly less positive ease of about 15 cm / 5.9” is recommended. For example, if you have a chest circumference of 94 cm / 37”, you should knit size M.
Model is 1.76 m / 5’9” tall and a chest circumference of 89 cm / 35”, wearing the sweater in size S (natural white) and size M (dark blue).
The SABAI top is a light and airy summer top with a boat neckline. It’s super easy to knit, requires only a few techniques and is therefore ideal for beginners. You can make it with the ribbed collar or just stocking stitch for a simpler rolled edge. I recommend using a DK weight cotton blend like Sandnes Garn Line, for a light, cool, easily washable summer knit.
The SABAI top is worked seamlessly top down. First, the neckline border is worked in the round in a 1/1 rib stitch pattern and increases are worked for the slanted shoulders. For the armholes, front and back parts are worked separately back and forth. The stitches of front and back are then joined and worked in the round again. The top ends with a narrow ribbed border with a rolled edge. As the top is knitted from the top down, it is possible (and advisable) to try it on while knitting so that the length can be individually adjusted.
Techniques used: left- and right leaning knitted and purled increases.

To fit chest circumference: 74-81 (82-89) 90-97 (98-107) 108-117 (118-127) cm / 30-32 (33-35) 36-38 (38-42) 43-46 (47-50)”
The top can be worn snug with approx. 0 – 2 cm / 0 – 0.8” positive ease, but also works well with a little more room to move (5 – 8 cm / 2 – 3.2” positive ease). For example, if you have a chest circumference of 90 cm / 35.4”, you should choose between size S and M.

One of the tops I’ve seen trending lately is the Lacey Loop Tee by Other Loops. The Lacey Loop Tee has a loose fit, a classic round neck and is detailed with stripes consisting of purl stitches, a feminine eyelet pattern and a unique ribbing edge. You can make this classic top in Berroco Modern Cotton or Sandnes Garn Line for a comfortable summer knit!
Construction
The t-shirt is worked from top to bottom. First stitches are cast on for the back piece, which is worked back and forth with short rows to shape the upper back. Then stitches are picked up along the shoulder edges and the shoulders are worked back and forth individually. The two shoulders are joined for the front by casting on stitches mid-front. The front and back piece are then joined, and the body is worked in the round and finished with a ribbing edge consisting of eyelets and purl stitches. Neck stitches are picked up around the neckline and the neck is worked in the round in ribbing. To create a nice finish, the last four rounds are worked in double knitting, followed by Italian bind off. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and sleeves are worked in the round. Stripes are created with purl stitches and eyelets according to a chart across the whole t-shirt. The first part of the pattern describes the chart row-for-row.

The Guayaba tee is an oversize and slightly cropped summer top. It is decorated with evenly spaced, round lace patterns. This project has lots of ease, making it airy and comfortable during the greatest heat. The entire project is minimalistic, easy, quick and fun to make, as I believe, the perfect summer piece of garment should be. It will match both shorts and skirts or dresses!
Construction
The designs is worked almost completely seamlessly from the top down. Front stitches are cast on using a provisional cast-on method and, after shoulder and neckline shaping, joined and worked straight down to the underarm. Stitches for the back are picked up along the front shoulders and cast on for the back neck. After shoulder shaping, back is worked straight down to the underarm. Shoulders are shaped using German short rows. Back and front are joined together and continued straight in one piece down to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes. Hem and sleeve scallops are shaped using German short rows. Neckline stitches are picked up around neck opening and finished with one row of purl stitches.

ILHA is worked from the top down, in the round. After the delicate yoke, the top of the sweater is shaped with raglan increases, resulting in a comfortable sweater and well-defined armholes. Once the stitches of the sleeves are put on hold, the body is knitted in the round, with pretty braids on the sides, revealed during movements. The ribbed edges are nicely highlighted by broken lines of twist stitches.
This sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round, starting with the collar. The yoke shaping is neither raglan nor round; it’s a bit of both! The pattern includes 3 options, that you can mix and match: rolled or ribbed edges; straight or A-line body shape; basic (m1l and m1r) or invisible lifted increases. If you are unsure which edge you prefer, you can make a swatch with one edge style on each end, and wash and dry it to see how they behave.
Capolette is the lighter-weight version of my original Capo layering top! Part capelet, part poncho, this little layering top is easy to make and fun to wear. And knit up in a lighter sport/DK-weight, it makes a great warm-weather-friendly layering piece. It’s worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up and uses sport/DK-weight yarn – the designer used Berroco Remix Light (we stock that too) but it would be drapey and delightful made with Sandnes Garn Line.
Agave uses three different sizes of the same lace pattern. The large lace pattern is worked at the bottom of the front which creates a wavy hem. The medium lace pattern is worked in the middle of the front and back. The small lace pattern is worked on the sleeves.
Agave offers two sleeve options. The flutter sleeves are fun to wear and great for warm weather. The sleeve edges are wavy, fluttering each time you move due to the unseamed undersleeves. The regular, longer sleeves are perfect to wear for many seasons and occasions. The placement of the small lace pattern along the top of the sleeve creates an elegant look.
To make this unique texture without being complicated, some sections are worked with one strand of yarn, and other sections are worked with two strands of yarn held together. This produces a fabric where some sections are light, delicate, and see-through, and other sections are textured and a bit thicker. Slip stitches make wavy, horizonal lines without using short rows. The instructions have an option to make a top without sleeves.
☆Instructions include the following adjustment/options.
