My friend Reney brought this little number to my attention, and I’m super grateful she did because I think this tank is going to be a great addition to your summer wardrobe. It’s made with Handmaiden Flyss (ON SALE NOW), a soft, summery blend of 65% silk and 35% linen. Flyss also comes with lots of yardage, so if you’re an average size you’ll only need a couple skeins (if you’ve been blessed with a petite frame you only can get away with ONE). Both linen and silk are fibres that tend to grow so there will be extra drape and ease in your garment. As always, make a swatch first and see what the textile can do for you. Plus, Handmaiden is made in Canada.

I love the simple lines of this summer top, and I love the clever REVERSIBLE design! That’s right, it;s a crew neck on one side and V-neck on the other! It’ll work up reasonably quickly on 4.5mm/US7 needles because it’s worked with 2 strands of yarn held together (a great opportunity to add a beautiful marl to your wardrobe). I think it would look stunning knit up with Handmaiden Flyss, a blend of silk and linen, or Quince & Co Sparrow, 100% organic linen. Linen is natually cool in warm weather, and makes a perfect summer garment. The pattern is unfortunately not a freebie, but I think sometimes it’s worth it to pay for something good.

I love the look of this loose summer top, it’s right up my knitterly alley.  The shape and style are so simple, and there’s lots of ease built in for an easy, gentle fit. The stripes are cleverly made by holding 2 strands of the same yarn, and the designers have blogged the entire thing HERE.

Easy Garter Scarfy Wrap

This project is the brainchild of my friend Jo, and I’m very grateful that she came up with this simple solution because it’s GREAT! This wrap drapes like a big scarf, but is also equally wearable as a wrap. The pattern is almost totally brainless; it’s a great second or third project for a beginner knitter, but it also works equally well for more experienced knitters hanging out on the patio with a beer or a cocktail.

It’s designed with the Handmaiden Casbah 5ply Gradient Kits (which we are constantly restocking), but you can use any DK or Sport weight yarn (or if you want to play around with the base math you can use other weights of yarn). You can make it as a gradient colourway, like ours, or use a single variegated, solid, semi-solid, ombre, or even self-striping yarn – it’s such a simple shape that just about anything goes, it’s totally flex.

As an aside, we are always restocking the Handmaiden Casbah 5ply Gradient Kits, but they are all one of a kind and individually dyed, so no two will be exactly alike.

For your Spring & Summer textile pleasure, we’ve brought back an old favourite, Handmaiden Silk Rumple (also know as Swiss Mountain Silk Rumple). It’s made from 100% silk, has a silky sheen, and a light, nubbly texture that makes it easy to work with and a delight to look at and wear. The texture also lends a hand in a few other ways; it makes it easier to knit with (there’s more there for your needle to grab), and knits up beautifully on a broad selection of needle sizes, which means you can really stretch a skein! We made our Bias Shawl (below) with 7mm/US10.75 needles.
